New Jersey Cardiac Imaging Center of Excellence
Heart & Vascular Imaging Services
You should be aware of the dangers of heart disease, but that does not mean you need to spend your life worrying about it. Cardiovascular imaging services can help you know how healthy your heart and vascular system is in a matter of minutes.
Atlantic Medical Imaging has one of New Jersey’s most advanced cardiovascular imaging programs, providing comprehensive multimodality imaging for the full range of cardiovascular issues. We were the first imaging center in South Jersey to introduce Coronary CT Angiography, the least-invasive CT exam for detecting coronary artery disease. We began offering this service in 2001, and since then we have performed more than 18,000 examinations and set the standard of excellence for coronary CTA.
Plaque inside the arteries of your heart can eventually grow and restrict or block the flow of blood to the muscles of the heart. The measurement of coronary artery calcification with a heart scan may enable your doctor to identify possible coronary artery disease before you have signs and symptoms.
Coronary CTA provides much of the information that conventional cardiac catheterization does but because of its unique ability to see the wall of the artery, it provides important information that can be invisible on catheterization.
Heart Disease—Prevention is the Best Treatment
Heart disease has a notorious reputation as the “silent killer”. This group of diseases is the primary cause of death for men and women worldwide. Not many people will experience warning signs when they are at high risk for a heart attack or stroke. Even people who have normal cholesterol and blood pressure levels account for half the people who suffer heart attacks.
While there may not be any noticeable symptoms of heart disease in most cases, that does not mean it is impossible to detect in the early stages. At Atlantic Medical Imaging, we offer several cardiac imaging services that can help you better understand your risk for heart attack and stroke.
Our cardiac imaging services include:
- Low Dose CT
- Cardiac MRI
- Coronary Calcium Score (CT Calcium Score)
- Coronary CTA (Heart CT Scan)
- Vascular CTA/MRA
Heart Disease: Know Your Risks
Should you be concerned? If you have one or more of these risk factors, you should talk with your physician:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Smoking
- Family history of heart disease
- Overweight
- High stress
- Sedentary lifestyle (little or no exercise)
And remember, heart disease affects both men and women. While men are more susceptible at an earlier age, a woman's risk of having a heart attack rises sharply after menopause.
