Mammography Preparations

When you call to schedule the appointment, please let the scheduler know if you have any specific breast complaints, such as pain, lump or nipple discharge. You will need to see your doctor prior to having the mammogram if you have any specific complaints.

No creams, powders or deodorants should be applied to your breasts or underarm areas prior to a mammogram. Tiny particles, which cannot be seen by the eye, can cause artifacts on the mammographic film.

Wear a two-piece outfit as you will be required to change into a top gown.

Please let our scheduler know if you have breast implants or if you are physically challenged.

If you have had breast imaging at another facility, please bring the films and reports to your appointment.
