Enjoy a Pain-Free Summer with AMI

Summer is a season filled with exciting outdoor activities and opportunities to tackle outdoor projects. However, these endeavors can sometimes result in physical strain and potential injuries, particularly when it comes to heavy lifting. At Atlantic Medical Imaging (AMI), we understand the importance of staying active while prioritizing your well-being. That's why we provide convenient imaging services, including cutting-edge MRI technology, to meet all types of patient needs.

Addressing Back Injuries and Pain:

Back injuries and pain are commonly experienced, with the lower back being the most frequently affected area. Repetitive stress from activities like heavy lifting or prolonged physical exertion can lead to discomfort and even chronic conditions if left untreated. It is crucial to seek appropriate medical attention and diagnostic services when experiencing back-related issues. Treating injuries can involve various approaches, from non-surgical methods to surgical intervention when necessary. Non-surgical options are often highly effective in managing pain and enhancing a patient's quality of life.

Accurate diagnosis of these injuries begins with a comprehensive medical history, physical examination, and, when necessary, diagnostic imaging.

When it comes to examining joints, MRI is an exceptional option. Unlike many imaging devices, MRI employs magnets instead of radiation to create images. MRIs are painless and noninvasive, making them one of the most efficient and effective imaging tests available. In fact, MRI is the preferred imaging modality for assessing tissue, enabling the detection of even the smallest muscle strains/tears and determining the extent of the injury, whether it's partial or complete.

At AMI, we provide our patients with a range of MRI options. Some of our offices offer the 3T MRI, which provides high-resolution imaging of various body parts, including shoulders, knees, brain, and spine. We also offer a 1.5T wide-bore MRI unit. With its gantry design and our experienced technologists, we can accommodate patients of all types, including those who are claustrophobic, elderly, pediatric, physically challenged, or larger in size.

Our Upright MRI allows for positional imaging, allowing patients to be scanned while sitting or lying down. Its unique capability to scan patients in weight-bearing positions has revealed issues that might have gone undetected on conventional lie-down scanners.

The expertise of the radiologists interpreting your exam is as crucial as the technology being used. At AMI, our radiologists are board-certified with specialized training in musculoskeletal imaging. They are skilled in diagnosing injuries and diseases that affect bones, muscles, joints, tendons, nerves, and other connective tissues. Our physicians consistently stay at the forefront of the latest MRI applications, ensuring that the clinical advancements seen in major university hospitals are also available at AMI.

Typically, an MRI exam lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the area being scanned. During the scan, you will hear a rhythmic tapping sound, which is a normal occurrence as the magnetic fields scan your body. We provide patients with headphones so they can listen to music during the MRI scan, helping to make the experience more comfortable.
